Medieval One Is A Wild $80,000+ Hot Rod Built From Scratch

Let’s say you have around $100,000 to spend on your next car. That’s a sizable amount, especially if you’re going second-hand, and the brand new car market has some excellent choices that’ll satisfy those looking for performance and design. Needless to say, you’ll find some high horsepower head-turners with no issue. Or, you could build your own one-off custom hot rod and get absolutely all the attention one the road and while you’re parked. For good measure, design it around the era of knights, castles, and weapons that cause blunt force trauma and slice through your foes with ease. That’s exactly the idea behind Medieval One, a metal-clad custom-built hot rod that has been described as the craziest car on the planet.

Designed and built by Bohata Design Inc., AJ Bohata talks about the design and inspiration behind Medieval One. It started out as a propane tank that was cut and put back together with 1/16th stainless steel metal. The chassis was laser cut and TIG-welded all in-house, with the front using a drop axle with radius rods and a transverse monoleaf, and the rear using air-ride suspension. The centerpiece is the knight’s helmet, which also acts as the driver’s cockpit. It’s hydraulically assisted and comes with all the instrument panels and switches for the lights and the engine. Oh, and there’s nitrous, too.

Powering Medieval One is a 335ci Chevy small-block with a Weiand 6-71 supercharger and electronic fuel injection that makes almost 1,000 horsepower. And, yes, those are snakes coming from the headers, responsible for the nitrous oxide purge tube. Medieval One has been designed in a way that allows the power steering, air conditioning, and alternator are kept low in the chassis, which puts the engine and its medieval crest air cleaner at the forefront. Overall, the project took a ton of man-hours and came in at about the $200k mark. Expensive? Yes. Unique? Definitely.

Elderly Cleaner Earning $20/Day Begs This Question: Should S’pore Adopt A Minimum Wage Law?

Editor’s note: The opinions in this article are the author’s, as published by our content partner, and do not represent the views of MSN or Microsoft.
A sad story about the struggles of an elderly cleaner who earns only S$20/day has gone viral on social media, racking up about 20,000 shares.
Netizen Meng Shuen Koh had shared his encounter with the old lady on Facebook on July 27, though the post has since been taken down.
In a series of Instagram Stories, Koh wrote that the 82-year-old – who was referred to as “Ah Umm” in the post – wanted to get to Sentosa to find a higher-paying cleaning job (S$10/hour) as her current job at Tampines Hub pays barely enough to cover her meals and transport expenses.
She also revealed to him that she has had four major heart surgeries, in which each surgery would cost her about S$40,000. The old lady noted that she had to sell her house in order to pay for the exorbitant surgeries fees.
Her husband has passed away, and her only son died during an accident while serving National Service.
She claimed that the Government has promised to give compensation for her late son’s death (payout of S$300 per month) but has yet to receive “one cent” from the Government till today.

In the post, Koh went on to question Singapore’s minimum wage model, or rather, the lack of it. Calling the S$5/hour a “slave wage”, he said that nobody should be working menial labour at that rate.
Although the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) has issued a clarification regarding the post, it’s still worth discussing the feasibility of a minimum wage model in Singapore.
Moreover, several opposition parties such as the Workers’ Party, Peoples Voice Party, National Solidarity Party and Reform Party have also pushed for a minimum wage or living wage policy in their GE 2020 manifestos.
More than 90 per cent of the countries in the world have already adopted minimum wage, so why isn’t Singapore doing the same?
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong addressed this perennial issue in his online election rally on July 6, saying that calls for a minimum wage or a universal basic income are “fashionable peacetime slogans, not serious wartime plans”, referring to the Covid-19 crisis.
He said that a minimum wage would add to employers’ costs and pressure them to let even more workers go.
Think about it this way: who will pay for this increase in wages?
An increase in wages will increase the costs of operation for businesses in Singapore if they maintain the same number of employees.
Businesses could either offset these costs by absorbing the costs themselves, or by passing the costs on to the customers. This means that by imposing a minimum wage model, Singaporeans could see an increase in cost of goods and services.
The second concern is that, with higher wages, businesses might not be able to afford some staff and hence let them go to keep cost of operations down. This could then lead to an increase in unemployment.
Among other things, the Government has also argued that having such a system would adversely affect the Singapore economy’s competitiveness.
For example, PM Lee said at the inaugural DBS Asia Leadership Dialogue in July 2013 that a minimum wage will not solve the problems of low-wage workers in Singapore.
My belief has been that a minimum wage is not going to solve the problem.
If it is modest, it won’t do harm, neither will it do a lot of good. If it is high, well, then it is going to cause costs to employers and it is going to cause unemployment to the low-wage workers. So you are not really solving his problem, you are just going to transfer it somewhere else.
Minimum wage hardly bodes well for low-wage workers or the economy, particularly in an export-reliant city like Singapore, where natural resources are minimal.
While the sole purpose of this model is to serve low-wage workers, it could ultimately hurt them instead.
Rather than set a minimum benchmark, Singapore embraces a Progressive Wage Model (PWM) instead.
First rolled out in 2012 by the National Trades Union Congress, the PWM mandates that workers be paid a basic monthly wage based …

Watch Modified BMW M3 And M5 Sedans Hit 200 MPH With Ease

When it comes to fast sedans, it’s hard to top the BMW M3 and M5. In stock trim, the F80 M3 and F90 M5 are electronically limited to 155 mph, and neither car wastes any time getting there. The two Bimmers featured in these videos aren’t stock, though the M5 is nearly showroom ready. And both are 200-mph ‘Bahn burners.
The action took place at the recent Vmax200 standing-mile event, and the cars are tuned by UK-based Evolve Automotive. We’ll talk about the M5 in a bit, as the M3 flaunts numerous changes including beefier turbos, upgraded injectors, intake, exhaust, and a few other tidbits that all work together with an ECU tune. In fact, two different tunes were used for the speed runs, one for standard pump gasoline and one for racing fuel.
The green M3 reached an impressive 193 mph on pump gas, but technically speaking it couldn’t break the 200-mph barrier. It wasn’t for a lack of power – an unknown speed limiter was discovered at an indicated 199 mph, and with racing fuel in the tank, the M3 smacked the limiter and stayed there for several seconds before reaching the shut-down area. With the limiter gone, 200 mph and beyond is a certainty.
The M5 didn’t have any limiter to worry about. As such, it reached 208 mph which is simply staggering for a large, four-door sedan. It’s even better than that, because this M5 doesn’t have any mechanical upgrades. The turbochargers are stock, the engine is stock, even the exhaust is factory original. The changes made by Evolve Automotive are two-fold – a water-methanol injection system for better cooling, and ECU reprogramming that changes the engine map for both pump gas and racing fuel.
Similar to the M3, the first few runs in the M5 were done running standard gasoline. That didn’t stop the M5 from sailing beyond 200 mph, with an actual recorded speed of 206 mph at the standing mile. On racing fuel, the car went a bit faster at 208 mph, but acceleration was intense. In short, the sedan was a total supercar killer, and according to the video, some supercar drivers at the event didn’t want to line up for a race because of it.
The crew at Evolve Automotive is hoping to go even faster with both cars soon. You can bet we’ll be watching to see these high-speed sleepers in action.
